Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy of Halide Ions on Colloidal Silver: Simulation of Silver-halide Ion Spectra
نویسندگان
چکیده
The surface enhanced Raman spectra of halide ions adsorbed on colloidal silver surfaces can be explained by an interacting dipole model of a discrete adsorbate superlattice. Both (100) and (111) surfaces have been modeled, and simulated spectra for a range of adsorbate coverage fractions and sol particle facet sizes give good agreement with experimental spectra. The model is useful for assessing the nature and extent of adsorbate coverage at the aqueous-meta l interface.

Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy of Halide Ions on Colloidal Silver: Morphology and Coverage Dependence
Transmission electron microscopy shows that the colloidal silver used as a substrate for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy consists of 75-135 .~ average diameter faceted crystals, which can be made to aggregate in clusters of a few to thousands of particles. Aggregates are not required for observation of the SER spectrum of adsorbed halide ions or pyridine. Bromide is shown to adsorb more rea...
متن کاملKinetic effects of halide ions on the morphological evolution of silver nanoplates.
Time-resolved extinction spectroscopy is employed to study the reaction kinetics in the shape-conversion reaction involving halide ions (including Cl(-), Br(-) and I(-)) etching (sculpturing) silver nanoplates. A series of time-resolved extinction spectra are obtained during the in situ etching process and the evolution of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of the silver nanoparticles is analyzed....
متن کاملRaman Study of the Photochemistry of Maleic Acid Adsorbed on the Surface of Colloidal Silver
The surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of maleic (cis; 2-butaneoic acid) and fumaric (trans; 2-butaneoic acid) acids adsorbed on aqueous silver sol particles are reported. These two acids form two groups of isomers which differ only in the relative positions of the two carboxylate groups. The photochemistry of maleic and fumaric acids adsorbed on the surface of silver colloids...
متن کاملSurface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy Using Silver Nanoparticles: The Effects of Particle Size and Halide Ions on Aggregation
A surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) investigation of the aggregation of silver nanoparticles formed via LVCC with diameters in the range 5– 50 nm were studied. It was found that with 647.1 nm excitation maximum enhancement is observed using particles with 11 nm diameters. Upon addition of sodium halides, enhancement is proportional to the polarizability of the anion. Maximum enhancemen...
متن کاملSurface Enhanced Raman Scattering of Crystal Violet with Low Concentrations Using Self-Assembled Silver and Gold-Silver Core-Shell Nanoparticles
The active substrates in surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy were prepared through self-assembly of nanoparticles on functionalized glasses. Colloidal silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were prepared chemically in two different sizes by reduction of AgNO3 using trisodium citrate and sodium borohydride. Gold–silver core–shell nanoparticles were also prepared to compare between the o...
